How Bella’s Traineeship has given her the opportunity to fulfil her ambition.
“I always wanted to work with cars and my Traineeship has started my career.”
Bella Corsini is 20 and she’s on the cusp of a brand-new career, in the industry that she has always wanted to work in. She’s currently on a Traineeship, working as a Powder Coater at CNC Coatings in Lake.
“My traineeship is really fun. I get to experience different cars and I learn new things every day. It’s a more male dominated job, but it’s been really great for me.”
How did you end up working as a trainee powder coater?
My dad’s a mechanic and I’m really into cars. I didn’t grow up liking Barbie dolls and I was always drawn to working with cars but I knew I didn’t want to be a mechanic. I left school and I started working with my mum doing cleaning, for about two or three years, and then I decided to do a complete career path change.
What have you learned?
I’ve learned so much. Literally everything! I’ve learnt how to take a wheel off, how to remove a tyre. I didn’t know what a sandblaster was.
In a typical day I will bring a car in and take the wheels and tyres off. The wheels go in the acid tank and then I’ll sandblast the damage away and then paint them. It’s the best thing about my job. The wheels go from looking rubbish to completely brand new.
How does your Traineeship make you feel?
It makes me feel like I’ve actually accomplished something at the end of each day, whereas in my previous job, it was the same thing every day and I felt that I wasn’t progressing. Now I feel like I’m building up my confidence and I find it easier to speak to people. I feel better about myself and I love my job!

What was it like going into a workplace that you hadn’t experienced before?
It was quite intimidating at first with all of the machines but I’ve got to grips with everything quite quickly. And I don’t really feel intimidated anymore. I try new things and get on with it. It’s fun. Challenging at times and a bit tiring on the arms!
Would you recommend a Traineeship?
100%. It gives you an opportunity to see if you like the job before you actually fully commit, and it also gives the employer a chance to see if they want you as well.
What advice would you give someone considering a Traineeship?
If you want to do something, then go and do it. Who’s stopping you? You’ll get to learn everything and people will teach you. All you’ve got to do is have patience with yourself and then you’ll get there in the end.
