The Government now pays at least
of employers’ Apprenticeship costs
You’ve got the staff – now get outstanding vocational training for max 5% of the cost!
Professional development for your staff can be a costly process, with many good vocational training courses costing thousands of pounds. Often, however employers are surprised to learn that government funding can cover most, or all, of the cost of Britain’s best staff training.
The government has announced an increase in the support they give for non-apprenticeship levy-paying businesses (those that have a wage bill of less than £3m per year). From April 2019 employers now only pay 5% employer contribution rather than the previous 10%.
Apprenticeships are great for existing staff as well as recruiting new staff!
Apprenticeships offer huge potential for upskilling, retraining and career development for staff and new recruits of any age. Indeed, leading provider HTP Apprenticeship College’s average age for apprentices is 29!
No prior qualifications are required either – it doesn’t matter if the applicant has a Degree or nothing at all – there are Apprenticeships for every level of knowledge and ability.
Apprenticeships are absolutely essential for the industry. It allows us to give people the opportunity to work and learn on the job – there’s no better way to learn than on the job itself. Apprentices are the next generation of hospitality on the Isle of Wight and we want them to be here at The Royal because they have the dedication, the passion and the love for the industry that we want to attract.
I was an apprentice myself, so I’m really keen on the apprenticeship programme. I think it’s a fantastic idea for getting young people especially into work and give them vital work experience. The team at HTP have just been fantastic. They’ve really understood what it is that we’re looking for, what it is that the candidates are looking for and it’s been a match made in heaven!
