Qualification Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People’s Services is a qualification designed to give learners the opportunity to build both managerial and care skills.

It fulfils the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of children’s homes or adult residential and domiciliary services.

This level will suit you if you are responsible for running a facility that provides services for vulnerable children, adults or both. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level.

What will I learn?
You will cover a number of areas, such as:

  • the assessment of individual needs
  • planning and review of care programmes
  • procurement and tendering
  • risk management
  • effective governance
  • domiciliary care management

Learners then have a choice of optional units covering different areas within Health & Social Care. There is a wide range of optional units allowing learners to choose units to meet the needs of their own work role.

How will I be assessed?
You will complete a portfolio of evidence from the workplace for each unit with some units including online testing. Your Training Consultant will observe you in the workplace where you will demonstrate your own competence.
What could this qualification lead to?
This qualification can enable you to be a manager of adult residential and domiciliary services or children’s homes.
