Acceptable Use Policy

For visitors, contractors, and other permitted users

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the terms and conditions for the use of the HTP Apprenticeship College guest Wi-Fi service. The Wi-Fi service is provided to support educational, professional, and legitimate personal use by authorised visitors.
Safeguarding students and ensuring a safe online environment are central to this policy. By connecting to the Wi-Fi service, you agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.

2. Conditions of Use

    • Access is a privilege, not a right, and may be withdrawn at any time
    • All activity on the Wi-Fi service may be monitored and logged in line with UK data
    • protection legislation and safeguarding requirements
    • Users must ensure their use is lawful, responsible, and respectful

3. Prohibited Activities

Users must not use the Wi-Fi Service to:

    • Access, create, or share material that is illegal, harmful, extremist, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate, including but not limited to:
      • Child sexual abuse material
      • Terrorist or extremist content (as defined by UK law and Prevent duty guidance)
      • Pornography or sexually explicit content
      • Discriminatory, harassing, or abusive material
    • Attempt to bypass network filters, security measures, or monitoring systems
    • Engage in hacking, unauthorised access, or the introduction of viruses, malware, or other harmful software
    • Infringe copyright, intellectual property, or data protection laws
    • Engage in online behaviour that could endanger the safety or wellbeing of children or young people

4. Safeguarding and Monitoring

The Wi-Fi Service is filtered to restrict access to harmful and inappropriate content in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance and the Prevent Duty Guidance.
All online activity is subject to monitoring and logging. This information may be shared with relevant authorities where safeguarding, security, or legal concerns arise.
Visitors must immediately report any accidental access to inappropriate material or safeguarding concerns to HTP’s Safeguarding Team via the HTP Reception.

5. Security and Privacy

Users are responsible for ensuring their devices are secure and up to date.
The Wi-Fi service is provided on an ‘as-is’ basis with no guarantee of availability or performance.
Personal data processed in connection with Wi-Fi use will be handled in accordance with HTP’s Data Protection Policy.

6. Enforcement

Breach of this policy may result in immediate withdrawal of access, reporting to the appropriate authority, and, where necessary, legal action and where serious breaches, especially those involving safeguarding risks, will be escalated to the CEO, safeguarding team and statutory agencies as appropriate.

7. Agreement

By accessing HTP’s Guest Wi-Fi service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy and the HTP IT and Data Protection Policy and you are bound to the relevant UK law and therefore agree to abide by it. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with all statutory requirements and HTP Policy.

By using HTP’s Guest Wi-Fi service you are agreeing to adhere to the HTP IT and Data Protection Policy and you are bound to the relevant UK law and therefore agree to abide by it. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with all statutory requirements and HTP Policy.

 

If you disagree with any aspect of HTP’s policy you must not connect to the Wi-Fi service.
