There has never been a more exciting time to work in primary care on the Isle of Wight, and Newport Health Centre is expanding the team and recruiting enthusiastic, motivated Apprentice Patient Advisors to support the Practice. You will work across a number of different areas, which provides variety to the day and offer opportunities for development. For example, you could:

  • Learn to be the first line of support on telephones, to book appointments and signposting queries. You will employ a variety of questioning techniques to develop a full picture of their needs, and provide clear and concise information to patients, as well as helping them feel at ease.
  • Provide reception cover, booking in patients, providing patients with information and forms as required.
  • Work on administrative tasks, such as sending out patient invites to specialist clinics, filing notes and updating medical records as tasked by clinicians

We are a friendly and supportive GP Practice on the Isle of Wight, with over 24,000 patients. We have a health and wellbeing focus, bringing together a number of healthcare professionals to deliver a range of facilities, support, and advice. For example, we offer an on the day Acute Hub for minor illnesses, GP appointments, specialist clinics, musculoskeletal practitioner appointments, mental health practitioner appointments, health checks, phlebotomy, sexual health appointments and much, much more.

You will be supported throughout the role with training and development, and you can choose to undertake an apprenticeship in Customer Service Level 2 within this role, supported by HTP.

Training Provided:

  • The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship.
  • Off the job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.


Expected Apprenticeship Duration:

  • 16 months.


Hourly Wage:

  • £6 an hour
