The prestigious, private members club Oswald’s is providing an exclusive opportunity to train and work alongside industry leading chefs, utilizing fresh seasonal ingredients to create delicious menus. The successful candidates would undergo the Commis Chef Apprenticeship and become an integral part of the kitchen team.

What’s Involved/Duties:

The following are the core duties and responsibilities of this job role that you will be learning to become proficient in during your Apprenticeship, with you being able to confidently do all of these by the end. Occasionally you may be required to carry out other tasks dependant on factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Responsible for ensuring freshness and quality of all food products
  • Communicating to the Head Chef any problems or concerns at an appropriate time in order to rectify the problem in a timely fashion
  • Ensure workstation is maintained and kept neat and clean by utilizing proper handling and storage
  • Assist in all preparation when requested by Head Chef
  • Produce the finest quality product with a positive attitude
  • Be able to assist any and all colleagues who may be in need of assistance
  • Responsible for proper rotation of food and breakdown of station
  • Prepare and keep running pars of all dressing, vinaigrettes and all mis en place
  • Clean reach in refrigerators and drawers on a daily basis
  • Ensure constant organization and cleanliness of refrigerators, and drawers
  • Produce all food items according to set recipes and Supervisor direction
  • Responsible to report to work on time and in a clean uniform on scheduled days with proper tools to perform required duties
  • To attend any training sessions as required
  • To be fully conversant with the club’s fire and emergency procedures
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene at all times
  • To know and follow the Health & Safety at Work Act
  • To carry out any reasonable requests from your manager as required

Training Provided:

  • The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship.
  • Off the job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.

Expected Apprenticeship Duration:

  • 18 months.

Annual Wage:

  • £20,000
