The prestigious club 5 Hertford Street are providing the exclusive opportunity to train and work in an environment like no other. Working in a busy restaurant during lunch and dinner services you will be responsible for a seamless restaurant service as part of the team and ensure an enjoyable experience for various high end clientele. In the position of Commis Waiter you would be undergoing the Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship

 

What’s Involved / Duties:

The following are the core responsibilities of this job role, you will be learning to become proficient in these by the end of your Apprenticeship. Occasionally you may be required to carry out other tasks dependant on factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Being fully aware of your work schedule and ensure adequate notice is given with circumstances when you are prevented from adhering to the schedule
  • Reports any incidents, complaints, suspicious persons or safety hazards immediately
  • Ensure strict control is adhered to when receiving and returning keys and whilst in your possession
  • To ensure that all guests are correctly and speedily logged and processed in the most courteous way
  • To have a good knowledge of the menu and styles of service
  • To take food and beverage orders efficiently and professionally ensuring all information are correct
  • To be fully conversant with the table lay-up and mise-en-place prior to, during and after service
  • To actively assist the Waiter in the service of food, beverage and tobacco
  • To promote a good team spirit and good relationship within the restaurant and kitchen brigades
  • To prepare Back of House for service
  • To clean all Back of House after service
  • Polish equipment
  • To run food to and from the kitchen
  • To be fully aware of the orders and the way to serve the food
  • To be familiar with and implement any relevant legislation i.e. liquor licensing
  • To inform supervisors of all guest comments and requirements that cannot be resolved immediately
  • To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform / attire, name badge, maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, and adhere to the hotel and department grooming standards
  • To provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times
  • To maintain good working relationships with all colleagues and other departments
  • To ensure you read the employee handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the club rules and regulations, and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety
  • To comply with the local legislation as required
  • To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry, company
  • To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/ areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs
  • To attend training and meetings as and when required
  • To be fully conversant with the club’s fire and emergency procedures
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene at all times
  • To know and follow the Health & Safety at Work Act
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests from your manager as required

Training Provided:
  • The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship with a specialisation in food production.
  • Off the job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.

 

Expected Apprenticeship Duration:
  • 14 months

 

Annual Wage:
  • £20,000

 

Working Week:
  • Shifts to be confirmed between Monday – Saturday. Every Sunday off
  • 42.5 hours a week
