The ILM Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management and Leadership is aimed at middle managers with responsibility for substantial programmes and resources. It develops skills in strategic planning, strategic change and business process design, alongside core leadership and management abilities such as inspiring colleagues and delivering results. This qualification forms part of the ILM Level 5 Management Apprenticeship.
You are required to take mandatory units which cover:
- Contributing to the development of a strategic plan
- Designing business processes
- Managing strategic change
You then have a choice of optional units covering different areas within Management and Leadership. There is a wide range of optional units allowing you to choose units to meet the needs of your own work role.
This qualification will be assessed using evidence from the workplace. This could include observation, professional discussion, questioning / interviews / witness testimony, physical products of work (such as plans, reports, correspondence etc).

Achieving this qualification will help you progress onto other Higher Level Education qualifications.
