What can I do after this Apprenticeship?
Overview
This Apprenticeship will give you the knowledge and skills you need to interact with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals. You will learn how to support child-initiated and adult-led activities based around the needs and interests of each child, and support their learning through play opportunities and educational programmes.
What will I learn during the programme?
During your Apprenticeship you will gain an understanding of how children learn and the expected pattern of babies and children’s development from birth to 5 years. Areas of development include speech, language and communication, physical emotional, social, brain development and literacy and numeracy. You will also develop your knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality guidance and learn the skills you need to identify risk, hazards, recognise when a child is in danger and know which procedures to put into place to protect them. You will also develop the ability to work with colleagues to identify and plan indoor and outdoor play opportunities and support children’s development through a range of creative social development and learning.
How will I be assessed?
During your Apprenticeship, you will work closely with your HTP Apprenticeship Coach, who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours you need to complete your apprenticeship successfully. After you complete training, you will show what you have learnt through a professional discussion based on the work you will have completed during your Apprenticeship and an observation with questioning.

End Point / Apprenticeship Assessment - Months 15 - 17
- To achieve the standard, apprentices must meet the required off-the-job training hours and be working at or above the occupational standard (KSB’s).
- The requirement to undertake English and Maths is optional for apprentices aged 19+.
- The requirements for apprentices aged 16-18 to undertake English and Maths is dependent on their prior attainment.
