Overview

As a leader of a care team you will take on a range of additional responsibilities which may include business development, financial control, organisational resilience and continuity as well as for managing risk and leading on organisational change. This Higher Apprenticeship will enable you to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to lead teams of care workers ensuring the service provided is safe, effective, caring and responsive to people's needs.
What will I learn?

This Apprenticeship will help you gain a deeper understanding of statutory frameworks, standards and Codes of Practice in addition to developing your knowledge of risk management, the theories of change, performance management and tools and strategies to enhance communication including the use of technology. You will also gain the skills you need as a manager to implement strategies to develop systems and processes and leader and support others to work in a person centred way, manage resources and deliver complex care and support.

What is included in the Diploma?

The Level 5 Diploma builds on topics previously covered by the Level 4 Certificate and Manager Induction Standards. It includes additional workplace assessment of competencies to ensure not only knowledge, but proven ability. It includes the following areas:

■ Leadership and management ■ Governance and regulatory processes ■ Communication ■ Relationships and partnership working ■ Person-centred practice for positive outcomes ■ Professional development, supervision and performance management ■ Resources ■ Safeguarding, protection and risk ■ Manage self ■ Decision-making ■ Entrepreneurial skills and innovation.

How will I be assessed?

During your Apprenticeship you will work closely with your Training Consultant who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours you need to successfully complete your Level 5 Diploma and Apprenticeship Standard. On completion of your Apprenticeship you will demonstrate what you have learnt through an observation and professional discussion.
