What can I do after this Apprenticeship?
On completion of this Apprenticeship you will be able to progress onto the Senior Production Chef Advanced Apprenticeship.

Overview

Production chefs work as part of a team in a range of settings including schools, hospitals, care homes and high street casual dining or pub kitchens. This Apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity, skills and knowledge to produce dishes to menu specifications and recipes. You will also develop methodical organisational skills and learn how, as a Chef, you can contribute towards sustainability and protect the environment.

What will I learn during the programme?

Throughout your Apprenticeship you will be learning new knowledge, skills and behaviours. These will include developing techniques for the preparation, assembly, cooking and presentation of food. You will also gain an understanding of food safety regulations, storage, stock rotation and how to adapt dishes to meet the dietary, religious and allergenic needs of individuals. As a Production Chef you will be communicating with colleagues, line managers and customers and during your programme you will gain an understanding of customer service principles and how you can help to ensure customer expectations are met.

How will I be assessed?

Throughout your Apprenticeship, you will work closely with your HTP Apprenticeship Coach, who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you successfully complete your Apprenticeship Standard. Once you have completed your formal training you will demonstrate what you have learnt through a practical observation and interview based on a portfolio of evidence.

  • To achieve the standard, apprentices must meet the required off-the-job training hours and be working at or above the occupational standard (KSB’s).
  • The requirement to undertake English and Maths is optional for apprentices aged 19+.
  • The requirements for apprentices aged 16-18 to undertake English and Maths is dependent on their prior attainment.
