Overview

The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to help pupils learn either in groups or individually. You will provide the support they need to understand the work set, stay on task and make progress. Teaching Assistants are able to help young people gain self-belief, promote social inclusion and help them thrive in a positive, nurturing and safe envioronment.
What will I learn during the programme?

During your Apprenticeship you will develop an understanding of how pupils learn and develop. You will work with teachers to provide assessment support and develop an understanding of how to keep children safe in education. You will also gain skills in communication and team work, the use of technology to improve learning and how to use a range of practices to enable pupils to access and engage in learning.

How will I be assessed?

Throughout your Apprenticeship you will work with an HTP Apprenticeship College Training Consultant who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you develop the knowledge and skills you need to successfully complete your apprenticeship. On completion of training you will demonstrate what you have learnt through a practical observation and professional discussion based on the portfolio of work you will have built during your Apprenticeship.
