Overview

As a practitioner you will be working with children, young people and families, including carers, to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. You will demonstrate a passion to care for and about children, young people and families and be skilled in recognising and assessing the complex needs that children, young people and families often present. Your approach will be one of respectful curiosity that challenges and supports children, young people and families to achieve their potential and stay safe. At the end of the apprenticeship the high quality of your practice will be making a real difference to those that you work with.
What will I learn?

During your Apprenticeship you will take the lead in developing and delivering children’s placement plans and will work with children to support their health, education, social and day to day needs, playing a significant role in helping them to thrive and fulfil their potential. You will also gain skills in communication and team work, identifying and addressing barriers and contributing to own professional development.

What does the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare cover?

This diploma will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including: wellbeing and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour and positive outcomes. This also includes an understanding of child and young person development and offers the learner the opportunity to cover optional topics which are particularly suited to specific residential childcare and respite care settings. How will I be assessed?

During your Apprenticeship you will work alongside your Training Consultant who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you successfully complete your diploma and apprenticeship standard.
