Overview
What will I learn?
During your Apprenticeship you will take the lead in developing and delivering children’s placement plans and will work with children to support their health, education, social and day to day needs, playing a significant role in helping them to thrive and fulfil their potential. You will also gain skills in communication and team work, identifying and addressing barriers and contributing to own professional development.
What does the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare cover?
This diploma will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including: wellbeing and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour and positive outcomes. This also includes an understanding of child and young person development and offers the learner the opportunity to cover optional topics which are particularly suited to specific residential childcare and respite care settings. Read here for more information on the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
How will I be assessed?
During your Apprenticeship you will work alongside your Training Consultant who will provide continuous assessment and feedback to ensure you successfully complete your diploma and apprenticeship standard. On completion of your programme you will demonstrate what you have learnt through a practical observation done in the workplace and a competence interview based on the portfolio or evidence you will have built during your Apprenticeship.
