- If you don’t have Maths and English GCSE at Grades 4–9, you will study towards either GCSE or Functional Skills.

What would I do on this course?
Mandatory modules you will need to cover include:
- Introduction to the development of children and young people through play
- Awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care (adults, children and young people), early years and childcare
- Introductory awareness of health and safety in health, social care, children’s and young people’s settings
- Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health, social care, children’s and young people’s settings
- Introductory awareness of person-centred support in health, social care, children’s and young people’s settings
- Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care (adults, children and young people), early years and childcare
- Introduction to communication in health and social care (adult, children and young people), early years and childcare
- Introduction to Mental Health
- Understand the principles and values in health and social care (adults, children and young people), early years and childcare
- Introduction to Autistic Spectrum Condition
- Introductory awareness of the importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults
Assessment
In order to achieve this qualification, learners will need to meet relevant outcomes and the required knowledge and understanding.

This is predominately a classroom-based course, however work experience is also included.
