Overview

Mentoring takes place in all walks of life. Those you support may be apprentices, trainees or new recruits to the workplace. As a mentor you will develop 'dual professionalism' by having both up to date knowledge and skills in a specialist vocational or subject area and developing the generic skills necessary to support the learning and development of others. Learning Mentors collaborate closely with colleagues and others in their organisation to enable learners to achieve their potential.
What will I learn during the programme?

During your Apprenticeship you will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable you to provide accurate advice, guidance and supervision. You will learn how to determine the requirements of learning programmes and plan contextualised learning in authentic or realistic work settings. Working with the wider education team and your Training Consultant you will develop the skills to review learner’s progress and provide valid evidence of achievement.

How will I be assessed?

During your training you will work alongside your Training Consultant who will continuously assess you and provide feedback to ensure you gain the knowledge and skills you need to successfully complete your apprenticeship. Once you have finished training you will demonstrate what you have learnt by undertaking an observation and participating in a professional discussion based on the showcase of work you have built up during your Apprenticeship.
