Overview
What will I learn?
During the Apprenticeship you will gain a wide range of core knowledge and skills needed to make decisions within your area of responsibility. These will enable you to demonstrate best practice and act as a role model to supervise or guide the lesser experienced staff in your team. As part of your apprenticeship and diploma you will also select from one of the following options:
- Adult nursing support
- Maternity support
- Theatre support
- Mental health support
- Children and young people support
- Allied health profession – therapy support
What does the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support cover?
This qualification is made up of core units which include communication, effective handling of information, infection, prevention and control, mental wellbeing and mental health promotion. In addition to one of the optional units above.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout your Apprenticeship you will work alongside your Training Consultant to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to meet the requirements of the Standard. To ensure you are making progress your consultant will provide continuous assessment and provide you with regular feedback. On completion of your formal training you will demonstrate what you have learnt through a multiple-choice test, an observation of practice and a professional discussion.
Are there many jobs in this field?
This programme will give you the skills, knowledge and experience to work in a variety of roles and settings within the NHS and private care facilities. It will also give you the entry requirements you need to apply to university and become a registered healthcare practitioner.
