HTP Apprenticeship College offers class-based, work skills, pre-apprenticeship and activity-based programmes designed to engage young people, some of whom have specific support needs. We are preparing young people for further training, employment and the next stage of adulthood.

We are currently looking to appoint at least one Tutor/Trainer or Trainee Tutor to work with predominantly 16-19 year old learners at our Riverbank Campus in Newport. Successful candidates will be required to tutor, teach, train and support learners across a range of programmes, some of who may have additional learning and support needs particularly around Maths and English.

Maths is an important element of our college-based programmes and tutoring can be in small groups, on a one-to-one basis or supporting existing classroom delivery to groups between 6 and 15 learners. HTP delivers both Maths and English at entry level Functional Skills, Level 1 or 2 or GCSE. Those candidates able to teach or train Maths will be a priority.

We work with a number of learners who require additional support linking to the requirements of Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and many of these need additional support in a class-based or work experience environment or perhaps in small groups or a one-to-one basis, often around Maths and English but also with practical and welfare support to attain their and HTP’s aspirations.

Who will suit this role?

This role will suit individuals who are focused on providing quality educational support to develop young people. All candidates must have a good academic level of Maths and English and a desire to work with our learners. Successful candidates will be fully integrated as part of the HTP team and are expected to deliver training, support learners and contribute to the ongoing development of HTP’s programmes.

Experience working with learners aged 16-18, some of which may have additional support needs, would be an advantage but is not necessary. Teaching experience or qualifications are also an advantage but not a necessity, as training and development to become a qualified and experienced Maths Tutor / Trainer will be supported by HTP for the right candidates.

The vacancy is full- time 5 days a week (part-time 4 full days would be considered) and attracts a good remuneration and benefits package dependent upon experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a range of training and development which will be fully supported by HTP. Please note that an HTP working day is from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4-30pm Friday.

HTP Apprenticeship College is committed to equality of opportunity as an organisation and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS checks.
