Take on an Apprentice and receive up to £4,000

Almost any business can benefit from Apprenticeships

The deadline for the £4k employer bonus has been extended–but act now!

If you’ve been thinking about taking on an Apprentice, the great news is that there’s still time to benefit from up to £4,000 as an employer incentive. Chancellor Rishi Sunak has confirmed that the government will continue to pay an additional bonus of up to £3,000 for every Apprentice that a business hires, but only until the end of January.

This incentive is in addition to the £1,000 payment already made to employers, providing a significant financial injection of up to £4,000 to make Apprenticeships an even more attractive and low-risk proposition. The £3,000 bonus scheme initially ended in September, but Rishi Sunak recently announced that employers will now have until 31st January to start an Apprentice.

The extension of the scheme also allows for employers to receive the grant if they have employed staff after April 1st this year, who then go on to an Apprenticeship. It means recently recruited existing employees can join the programme, as well as new starters.

Likely to be the last extension of the bonus, the announcement from the Treasury is part of a £500 million jobs support package. It’s good news for businesses and their teams.

Sieze the opportunity now – says Principal Rachael Randall

“We welcome the additional support for training and the business community,” says HTP’s Principal and Chief Executive Rachael Randall. “As the economy continues to recover from the shock of the pandemic, employers can continue to benefit from a real boost. The extended incentive is a welcome boost but it’s unlikely to continue beyond January. With the ending of the furlough scheme and a shortage of labour in many sectors, taking on an Apprentice can provide strong solutions for businesses needing staffing support.

“Employers really should act now.”

Rachael continues, “The extended incentive is a welcome boost but it’s unlikely to continue beyond January. With the ending of the furlough scheme and a shortage of labour in many sectors, taking on an Apprentice can provide strong solutions for businesses needing staffing support. Employers really should act now.
